Here's my suggestion for a similar challenge for next year's list:
* A game that starts with V and doesn't feature vampires or a game that starts with Z and doesn't feature zombies

I'm too late for this year, but here are some more suggestions for next year:
* A game controlled by motion controls, eye-tracking, or a specialized peripheral (such as a guitar, racing wheel and pedals, balance board, microphone, Kinect, etc)
* A game based on a real-world analog (board game, card game, instructional simulator, etc, as long as it had a real-world version first)
* A game where you control multiple characters, simultaneously or alternating
* A game with hand-drawn graphics, stop-motion, or FMVs
* A game with a narrator
* A co-op game or game where you played a co-op mode
* A game on a platform, website, or subscription service that you've never used before

This is my first year participating. I'm only going for bronze, because I don't want it to become a chore. Being late for itchmas gave me a strong start.

Actually found some time tot finish Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty today! Another one I started last year. Short game, but very fun. I found the final boss a pain in the butt though. Also finished up God of War: Ragnarok, but still contemplating on going for the 100 percent completion. Liked the game a lot and the ending was really great!

One month in and I'm doing better than I had expected. So far I'm just slotting in games that I play into categories they fit into. Once the categories are narrowed down more, I'll probably pick some games to fit specific ones.

I'm off to a good start after this first month. I completed a majority of the Halo games which are on my list. Doom: The Dark Ages got a release date which solidifies my challenge 1, though the price tag is on the higher side for me so I may wait a month or two until it possibly goes on sale, or I may just end up getting game pass sub for it since it releases on there day one. I ended up retiring one of my picks for challenge 16, Hades, I put a good 8 or 9 hours into it and I wasn't enjoying it. But I'm almost certainly going to complete a GOTM sometime in 2025 so I'm not stressed about finding a new pick. At my current pace I probably won't finish all of these games, but I'll be able to do a lot of them which I'm happy about. I also ended up switching my replay to Halo 5, because I just happened to be replaying it.

I hope to finish Halo Infinite, FTL, and a majority of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered in February, it'll likely be a slower month completion-wise.

January Update

4 games completed in January, despite a very slow start to the year in terms of overall time played. None of the games on my playing tab really got touched except for Metaphor: ReFantazio which I will hopefully be able to finish in February.

08. A game with 6+ endings: Without A Voice ✅ Completed Jan 1st

14-3. A game with no recorded completion times: Without A Voice: Blooming Edition ✅Completed Jan 2nd

27. A game that has no business being in its series: Fairy Tail: Beach Volleyball Havoc ✅ Completed Jan 13th
An indie, crazy beach volleyball game set in the Fairy Tail universe. While once you play it kinda does fit in with the series, it’s not something a Fairy Tail reader/watcher would have expected to come out.

43. A Game inspired by Mythology or Folklore: Guwange ✅ Completed January 1st

I don't have a collection for this yet, but here's my January games.

5. A time sink (50+ hours) - The First Descendant - I have 107 hours in this game. Technically I beat the story in November/December but I kept playing for the other content until I got bored.

12-1. A game adapted from another medium - Shrek Superslam - Shrek Superslam is adapted from the Shrek movies. Shocker.

28. A game from a franchise that rarely gets new games - Gravity Rush - It is a franchise since it has two games, and it has been featured in so many of the PlayStation crossovers. The main protagonist was a fighter in PlayStation All-Stars, a character in one of the Everybody Golfs games, and she was one of the few costumes in Astro Bot. Despite that, there's not many games for it.

31-2. The base game version of a game with several DLCs or Editions - Call of Duty: Black Ops - Just base Black Ops for me. I'm pretty aware there's many DLCs for this game as well as the series as a whole.

44. A Game inspired/based on real world historical events - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - All AC games are based around historical events, this one is based on the West Indies area and all the pirating there.

45. A game developed by a single person - Balatro - Balatro could have gone to multiple of the challenges, but I figured this one would be best to get out of the way sooner.

49-2. A game that features space travel - Affordable Space Adventures - I will let you to figure out why I put this here. :)

I'm off to a good enough start to hit my goal of completing the Bronze challenge, if I can maintain this pace. Last year I had 25 completions, but this year I have more long games planned, so I'll just be glad to hit the 20 mark. I'm definitely aiming for quality over quantity with my vidya game time this year.

January Completions

14-1. A game with over 1k completions - Mass Effect 2

19-1. A “threequel” (third part of the series) - Mass Effect 3

Technically, according to the rules, I could count Paper Mario even though I retired it after 7 or 8 hours. I wouldn't feel right doing so since I didn't complete more of the game though, so I'll just be happy with my 2 completions for the month.

Here's my collection.

This is the first time i participate in this challenge, I've already made a plan, maybe some games will change in time but for now it looks pretty good. There are a few games that I have already finished before but was thinking of playing them agan and I thought this would be a good time to replay them since some of the games match the challenge description. If you think that is not fair and most games should be new, games that I have not finished before, please tell me and I will change them.

Here is my plan:

Ok so 1st month of the year went by here I share my progress:

1) Maneater: Unexpectedly got it to platinum, most of it was played last month for last year's challenge for the aquatic creature game. Got hooked by the story and wanted revenge on the shark hunter, the gameplay loop was fun and also the evolution mechanics stand out.
2) Silent Hill 2 Remake: The original SH2 was my favorite of the Silent Hill games and the remake does it justice it delivered on all fronts. As I have played the original at least twice went for the hard mode and hard puzzles, the combat and stealth felt just right and you could feel the resource scarcity and each encounter was dreadful, the amazing story with all the psychological depth was basically kept intact as well as the astounding music by Akira Yamaoka, and the updated graphics were realistic and terrifying. Marks the end of playing all the main Silent Hill games (SH1, SH2+Remake, SH3, SH4 The room, SH5 homecoming, SH6 Downpour, Origins, Shattered Memories, Play Novel, Short Message)
3) Braid: The ending was somewhat shocking, the time travel mechanic was really innovative. I marked this for the 45th challenge as Jonathan Blow did mostly everything design, coding, purchased the songs used for the background music (although didn't composed the music or performed it himself) and also hired someone for upgrading the original graphics as his own looked somewhat amateurish.
4) Melty Blood Type Lumina: Definitively the best of the Melty Bloods, the new sprites look really great, the gameplay is fast and satisfying and the music by Raito complements it very well. Got 6 endings in the story mode (CielA, Ciel B, FP Ciel, Vlov, Aoko, Shiki). Marks the end of playing all the Melty Blood games which started last year (Melty Blood, MB Re-act, MB Act Cadenza, MB Actress Again, MB Type Lumina).
5) Mortal Kombat: One of the all time fighting game classics, the reason we have game ratings like ESRB, passed it on hard difficulty. Marks the start of the journey of playing all the MK games.

Don't really actively use this site, but I want to get back into singleplayer games and this feels like a good motivator to do so :)
Using this comment as an easier way to keep track of the games, not really a big fan of the collection system.

Since I mainly speedrun games, I'm only counting casual playthroughs.
