It's been a while since I played this, so I find it hard to express just how much I like the main story of this expansion. It is a Polish version of Faust in essence, but it works perfectly in this expansion and is in my opinion highly enjoyable. Everything else is the same quality as the base game, which is already really high. Boss fights get a decent upgrade over the base game to create some quite interesting encounters. So far of all the games I've beat, this is the only title I have given a perfect score, though it does help significantly that its base game was already so strong.Updated 1 Month Ago

The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone - Review (100/100)Hearts of Stone, the first expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is nothing short of a storytelling masterclass. It takes the already stellar foundation of the base game and delivers a tale that is intimate, haunting, and unforgettable. With its rich narrative, memorable characters, and challenging new gameplay elements, it solidifies The Witcher 3 as one of the greatest achievements in gaming history.
The Pros:
A Villain Worth Remembering:
Gaunter O’Dimm, the enigmatic Man of Glass, is one of the best villains ever crafted in a video game. His cunning, charm, and malevolence are as captivating as they are terrifying. His presence looms over the story, making every encounter with him a chilling delight.
A Love Story Turned Tragedy:
At the heart of the expansion lies Olgierd von Everec, a man cursed by his own ambition. His tragic love story is layered with themes of regret, redemption, and the cost of desire. Olgierd’s character is complex and deeply human, making his journey resonate long after the credits roll.
Engaging and Unique Quest Design:
Hearts of Stone eschews the typical fetch-quest structure in favor of innovative and varied missions. Whether you're attending a ghost-infested wedding or pulling off a heist in an auction house, each quest feels fresh and brimming with creativity.
Challenging New Enemies:
The expansion introduces powerful foes, such as the Caretaker and Wraiths from the Painting, which demand more strategic combat approaches.
Runewright and Gear Enhancements:
The Runewright system adds depth to Geralt’s arsenal, allowing for unique upgrades that enhance gameplay customization. Experimenting with new rune combinations makes combat even more satisfying.
Rich Atmosphere and Setting:
The new regions of Oxenfurt and the surrounding areas are beautifully crafted, offering a mix of vibrant, bustling streets and eerie, isolated landscapes. The attention to detail in these environments makes every moment of exploration a treat.
Superb Writing and Dialogue:
The dialogue is sharp and full of wit, capturing the tone and nuance of each character perfectly. The expansion’s story feels personal yet grand, tackling profound themes while maintaining the dark humor and charm the series is known for.
Incredible Soundtrack:
The music in Hearts of Stone is a standout capturing the expansion's melancholic yet hauntingly beautiful tone. The soundtrack elevates every moment, from combat to quiet introspection.
The Cons
None.
Final Thoughts
Hearts of Stone is everything an expansion should be: tightly focused, emotionally resonant, and bursting with new content that enhances the base game. It’s a story about love, loss, and the price of one’s soul, told with the kind of depth and nuance rarely seen in gaming. Gaunter O’Dimm alone cements Hearts of Stone as a masterpiece, but the expansion’s innovation, charm, and challenge make it truly unforgettable.
Final Verdict: 100/100. A breathtaking addition to one of the greatest games of all time, delivering an unforgettable tale of tragedy, wit, and darkness.

10/10 (same review as of witcher 3)I can't even think of any words that would describe this game other than masterpiece.
The story is top notch, combat is top notch, characters, main storyline, side quests, everything about this game is done to perfection.
If I had to complain, maybe the few bugs, but were only funny small bugs and this game seems bug free when compared to skyrim.
What CD PROJEKT RED pulled off is unbelievable. I never felt bored about the world, the side quests were all interesting, and what saddens me is that I will never be able to experience the feeling of my first time playing this game... and I haven't even played the other DLC which I had heard were also equally amazing. When I play the DLC I will make an edit to this post.
10/10 once again, I wish I could travel back in time to play this game like it was my first time again. This game was most def my best game of the decade for me. I just hope that maybe the next Witcher game will fix the fall damage.
Edit 1: Just finished Heart of Stone, Godlike expansion with such amazing story. IDK if I am even ready to play Blood and Wine.

I probably didn't like Hearts of Stone as much as most people did, that said this is still an incredible DLC.I just couldn't care less about the wedding party and Shani, and I found it annoying that the Redanian guards in Oxenfurt still shouted "Long Live Radovid" even if he was murdered. Other than that, amazing story, good characters, and runes are a great addition to gameplay.

Hearts of stone tells an interesting story of Geralt falling into debt of a very dangerous man named Gaunter O'Dimm, or Master Mirror, the Man of Glass. He curses Geralt with a brand on his face that can only be removed by Geralt fulfilling three wishes for one Olgierd Von Everec. Everec is a despicable man, who gives Geralt three impossible tasks: Show his brother the time of his life, but his brother is dead, bring him someone else's house, and give him the very rose that Olgierd had given his wife years ago, though she is dead and the rose is long since decomposed. It is a well told tale that continues the wonderful storytelling and world of the Witcher 3, while also bringing a couple new things to the table. First, there is a new rune crafting mechanic that allows you to further enhance your weapons more than in the main game, and this was the expansion that brought a new interface to the signs and secondary items. I personally prefer the old sign selection menu, but it's not really much of a downgrade, just an aesthetic preference.
Hearts of stone's strength, just like the main game, is in its storytelling and character writing. Gaunter O'Dimm in particular is a fascinating character that really commands some presence, despite his normal appearance. The expansion also brings back one of Geralt's old love interests, Shani, who is charming and also quite well written. It's more high quality writing that we've all come to expect from the Witcher series and I especially loved the first half of the expansion.
I found however, that the expansion's latter half isn't nearly as intriguing as its first. The writing kind of drops off after a bit, before coming back strong in the last minutes. The latter half of the expansion has a few boss fights that are some of the most frustrating and poorly designed fights in the series. Strong enemies are no stranger in Witcher 3 on the highest and second highest difficulties, but it's the mechanics of these fights that feel untested and cruel. One has you fighting against an enemy that restores his own health with each hit, but one third of the way through the fight, in case you were successfully dodging everything to prevent him from healing, he starts summoning the souls of the dead to attack and replenish his health. Another has you fighting a wraith that almost never lets up on the attack, but expects you to find time to draw your crossbow every few seconds to prevent them from fully healing. And another teleports to your position so quickly and has such powerful blows that if you don't parry the first hit, you cannot recover. The setting of these fights is intriguing but ultimately they feel like they could have used a bit more play testing to lengthen the windows of opportunity to be successful.
Ultimately, the expansion is quite good, but the last two hours had 3 BS fights that really left a sour taste when all was said and done. And the story, although good, has no direct connection to main game events or characters. It definitely feels like a side story rather than something supplemental that elevates the main quest. I still had a good time, don't get me wrong. And the length was perfectly appropriate for the amount of extra story we got. But I admit that at the end it felt like something small needed to be added to really round out the DLC as a whole.

Has multiple of the best quests in the game, and doesn’t overstay its welcome in the least. Difficulty and gameplay is also an improvement on the main game, likely due to the smaller amount of material making it easier to pace appropriately. Hearts of Stone is an excellent DLC that adds on a new quest line that can either be played alongside the main game or afterwards as an bridge between Wild Hunt and Blood & Wine. The DLC is short but has a great story and introduces some memorable new characters including the most interesting, enigmatic and potentially powerful villains of the The Witcher world so far. I highly recommend you play this DLC if you liked the main game.Updated 2.5 Years Ago

Honestly, better than the main game. The storyline that branches out is heart wrenching and makes you feel bad for a villain like character. The Witcher 3 is known for immersion and the main story is great but as for myself I felt much more immersed in this DLC. It's always a treat to dive a bit more into Geralt of Rivia's world. This time he is asked to help O'Dimm complete the wishes for Olgierd von Everec which results in hilarious scenes. I'm not going to write a lengthy review, because this DLC is actually a continuation of The Witcher 3 (check out my full review there) and what I liked and disliked is actually the same for this one. One thing I would like to remark is that I'm happy that CD Projekt Red has actually mixed things up for this game. It's not really more of the same because the way Geralt has to solve puzzles and event is completely different.
I'm happy there's another love interest after the events of the Witcher 3 by the way. I'm now curious to play the final DLC of this game, but I might wait a little longer to delay the inevitable end a bit more.

This is well worth purchase dlc. It is as long as some 40 quid games are and still tells a compelling story of which the drives you to figure at the mystery surrouding the two main characters of this dlc piece. rnrnI want to say that i consider this charcter piece within the Witcher 3 to be just as compelling as the bloody barons character piece as we slowly interact with olgreid and start to understand who he is and what has happened in his life to cause his "downfall"Updated 3.5 Years Ago

Olgierd von Everec is a sociopath. But then again, until I’ve reached this expansion, I’ve killed and slaughtered many more man, animals, and monsters. So, who am I to judge…He’s likable, yet eerie unnerving. He sends Gerald on impossible quests. They involve killing a frog (the most f*** difficult monster in the entire game), a heist, a wedding, and a trip into the memories of his past. The quests reveal his story and tell a fantastic tale about love, greed, and emptiness.
Gaunter O'Dimm is the second new character Gerald meets. Master Mirror. In the beginning unassuming yet growing more mysterious and intriguing over time. However, he is never a character with his own story. He always feels like an uninspired attachment designed to fit Olgierds quest line.
On the other hand, I liked Shani. I liked her a lot. Gerald also liked her - like he liked Keira, Triss, and Yennefer.
Hearts of Stone is a well-crafted add-on. A huge side mission that entertains yet doesn’t add any lore to the Witcher mythology.
